DoD Small Business Programs

The Mentor-Protégé Program encourages major DoD prime contractors (mentors) to develop the technical and business capabilities of small disadvantaged businesses (SDBs) and other eligible protégés.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs harness the innovative talents and entrepreneurial energies of our nation’s small technology companies for U.S. military and economic strength.

Indian Incentive

The Indian Incentive Program compensates prime contractors that use Indian organizations and Indian-owned economic enterprises on subcontracted work or on subcontracted commercial products manufactured in whole or in part by an Indian organization.
Other Small Business Program Initiatives

EDWOSB Federal Contract Program (SBA 8m)
This program authorizes contracting officers to specifically limit, or set aside, certain requirements for competition solely among economically disadvantaged women owned small businesses (EDWOSBs). This is referred to as the EDWOSB Program.

HUBZone Program

This program falls under the auspices of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The program encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones – “HUBZones” – through the establishment of preferences.
